Happy New Year Buzzers, we’re back with an all new installment in our “Buzz”N” iNterview series and for this edition, we travel all they way over into Adelaide, South Australia for some one on one time with the fast rising R&B/ Pop star Stefanie Marquez. We will be talking about her hit single “Thirsty” being released internationally on January 15th, how the talented young sheila found a home at BDL4LIFE Entertainment and her early beginnings as a young aspiring musician. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

I’d like to first thank you for joining us for the interview Stefanie. Let’s start things off by revisiting the past, back when you first found a strong love for music. When did you realize music was your calling? What pushed you into singing and into taking it seriously and pursuing it as a career?

I always had a love for singing since a really early age. I guess part of the reason that pushed me to do it as a career was the response I got from people when I sang. Whenever I sang in front of crowds, I got a great response from the audience and it felt really good. I also had a strong passion for writing since I was young. I always knew I wanted to do music, it makes me who I am and I can’t live without it.

Being from Australia, what is the music scene like out that way, especially from the region you call home? Between the U.S. and your home continent, which do you feel your music fares best in?

The Australian and US music scene are both different; I feel as if the US inspires me because many of the biggest names in history came out of the US. I also feel as if there is more of a love and appreciation for the R&B/Pop scene there. I come from a small city Adelaide; to be honest it’s not really known for its music scene but I make the most of it. It’s good in a way because it is easier to get your music heard and the supporters appreciate the hard work you put in. So far, Australia has been good to me but I feel like I have much more I can accomplish with my music in the US.

We here at GYBU came across your music with the song “Never Fall In Love Again”, a powerful, club infused ballet that touches on heartbreak and inner strength. Was this song based off of a personal experience, seems to me like it very well may have been. Please talk a little about the song and how it came to fruition.

ALot of my songs I usually write are quite dramatic. I’m a dramatic person so I write dramatic music. I actually came up with the title before I came up with the song. I thought I could really do something with it. As for the personal experience, there might have been a tiny bit of truth in it at the time but mostly exaggerated. I wrote that song a few years ago but only made something out of it last year, a lot has changed since then so in that case the outcome was better than the experience.

You recently uploaded some home cooked vlogs in which you cover songs such as Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home” and Rita Ora’s “Never Let You Down”. I personally found a liking to the Ora cover. What sparked you to start doing cover videos like this and will this be an ongoing campaign Stefanie?

I like singing covers and changing them up a little, making them my own style. I find it is a good way to keep my supporters interested by doing songs that they already know about and showcases my versatility. This will definitely be on going too, I have another cover coming out soon. I will be singing “Crazy In Love” (the “Fifty Shades of Grey” version). I thought since the movie is coming out and everyone is excited about it, including myself, why not do a cover of it?

Exactly, we will be looking forward to hearing the new song once it’s out. Stefanie, how did you come to be involved with BDL4LIFE Entertainment and gearing up to enter into the U.S. music market?

In 2013 I was vacating in Miami and I just happened to meet Black Ice, CEO of BDL4LIFE Entertainment. We came to the realization that we both had a great passion for music, we did a few collaborations together and while I was in Australia he signed me as his artist.

After a huge wave of features on sites, blogs and indie radio stations worldwide, the official international release of your single “Thirsty” is set to release on January 15th. The song sounds epic and features label owner Black Ice. Congratulations on that Stef, that’s big! Could you share the story behind the song’s creation, production and will there be a video to accompany the single anytime soon?

When I first heard the production on “Thirsty”, I said to Black Ice “I need to be on this track!” I wrote a song to it and demonstrated it to him, he wrote a killer rap verse to it and it worked. The song is about thirsty guys desperately trying to get a girls attention. I wrote this one for the ladies! There are a lot of songs that talk about sex and some of them can be quite degrading to women so I decided to write a song in relations to the struggles that us women have to put up with every time we step into a club. The producer of this track, Alegal, has worked with a lot of major artists such as The Game and Nelly. He is an amazing producer and I plan to continue working with him. We are planning to do a video for the song when I come to Miami in March.

A video shoot in March? Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Speaking of”Thirsty”, the single not only serves as your official debut into the United States and establishes you as a BDL4LIFE artist but also is going to be featured on your debut album. You’ve been working very hard on the project from what I’ve read and seen online. Do you have a title set for the album yet and an idea of when we can expect it to drop? Will there be any features on the album? What producers are you currently working with on it?

The album will be ready for release mid year of 2015, I have a new single coming out before then, so I’m pretty excited! I have a few titles in mind for the album but I am still deciding on it. We have great producers on the team that I’ve been working with that are highly talented, one of the songs featured on the album I even did my own composition for so I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.

Aside from music, you’re also a pianist, an actress and model. Is music a stepping stone for you to branch out into other fields such as movies or magazines or are you a quadruple threat? That’s alot of talent you have going on Ms. Marquez! LBVS!

I love working in entertainment and I love anything that is artistic. Although music is my first love, I like to keep busy and take as many opportunities that come my way as I can. I believe branching out in other fields will help me grow and develop new skills in other areas as well as music.

For anyone looking to stay in touch with you online, where can we find you on social media? What are you most active on?

You can find me on Facebook: stephanie.marquezmusic, Twitter and Instagram at @Mzmarquezbdl. Make sure you follow me and I will keep you posted on new music, pictures, interviews and more.

It’s been a pleasure having you with us today Stefanie. Before we close the curtain, is there anyone you’d like to thank or shoutout?

I would first like to thank BDL4LIFE Ent for all the hard work they have put in to help build my career. I would also like to thank everyone who has and continues to support me throughout my journey, especially my close friends and family who continue to encourage me.

With a multitude of talent branded into her genetics, it’s no wonder that Stefanie Marquez is poised to make some serious noise within the international music market and with big hits such as “Thirsty”, the beautiful Australian songstress should have no problem at all with creating a long list of great music. We’d like to thank her once more for taking time out to chat with us for this edition of our “Buzz’N” iNterview series. Make sure to purchase a copy of “Thirsty” now at the following link.
